Three is a brilliant age to start football. Children are full of energy, love to copy, and are just beginning to control their bodies and a ball at the same time. In our pre-school classes, that's exactly what we build on.
Is 3 too young for football?
No. Our pre-school classes start from age 2. At this age it isn't about matches or positions. It's about moving well, getting lots of touches on the ball and having fun with other children, with a parent alongside.
What happens in a class
Pre-school classes last 40 minutes and parents join in. A typical class includes:
- a couple of drills from the FSS syllabus, each one built around the ball
- fun games for the whole class that put those skills into action
- the parachute at the end, which is always a favourite
- a sticker for everyone on their attendance chart before they head home
What 3 year olds learn
- Lots of touches on the ball, with both feet
- Shooting, and the joy of scoring their first goals
- Balance and coordination: stopping, starting, turning and changing direction
- Listening, taking turns and playing alongside other children
Which class should my 3 year old join?
Some of our venues split pre-school into a 2 to 3 group and a 3 to 4 group, and others have one class for ages 2 to 4. Use the class finder to see the groups and times at each venue.
Where are the classes?
