Pre-School (ages 2–4)
Football for 2, 3 and 4 year olds
Our pre-school classes are where most First Steps Soccer players take their very first steps with a football. The aim is simple: make football the best part of their week, while quietly building the foundations of a great footballer.
What they learn
Classes last 40 minutes and parents join in, so even the shyest two-year-old has someone to hold onto until they're ready to have a go on their own.
- Lots of touches on the ball, with both feet
- Shooting, and the joy of scoring their first goals
- Early balance and coordination: stopping, starting, turning and changing direction
- Listening, taking turns and playing alongside other children

What happens in a class
- 1A couple of drills chosen from the FSS syllabus, each one built around the ball
- 2Classic FSS games such as cats and dogs, often with a story or a collection challenge
- 3Finishing with the parachute, which is always a favourite
- 4A sticker for everyone on their attendance chart before they head home
